About

The Route 52 bridge connects the city of Ocean City and Somers Point across the Great Egg Harbor Bay over a span of 2.2 miles. The bridge consists of two approaching embankments, two high rise bridges, a series of low rise bridges, and embankments stretching across the Rainbow Islands. The two high rise bridges are to be designed to allow passage of water vehicles through the two ship channels (one on the Somers Point end and the other on the Ocean City end). The entire project was divided by the DOT into two contacts: Contract A and Contract B. Our project is limited to the confines of Contract B which include the two high rise bridges and their approaching embankments on each mainland. Our design will focus strictly on the foundation and hydrologic aspects of Contract B. Structural loads will be provided from the contracted design company: Hardesty and Hanover LLP.
